The Green Party is now bigger than the Tory Party

Membership of the Green Party of England and Wales has now outstripped that of the Conservative Party:

It follows a phenomenal start for Greens leader Zack Polanski, and an embarrassing year for Tory leader Kemi Badenoch.

Green Party numbers will go higher

Polanski won the leadership contest in September this year, and he immediately got to work going after the billionaires, the privatisers, and the ripoff merchants:

“People in this country are exhausted, they are tired. They are sick of working long hours & never feeling secure. They see water companies pumping sewage into our waters & charging us extra for the privilege…”

As Politics UK noted, Green membership has surged significantly since Polanski took the reins:

The last reported membership count for the Tories was 123,000

Clearly, his message has resonated with voters. Polanski has smashed it so hard, in fact, that some think he came out of nowhere (note who ‘reposted’ this):

In actuality, Polanski has been building support for several years by targeting the issues which are driving inequality:

Keir Starmer says cutting the winter fuel payment is a choice he had to make.

But when asked about a wealth tax – Rachel Reeves said their spending commitments didn’t require extra investment.

So his tough choices are to not tax wealth of billionaires.

But actually a tax on the super rich – with so much inequality – should be one of the answers to any question.

Kemi Badenoch, meanwhile, has overseen what looks like the terminal decline of her party:

Digging a hole for herself, she went into the leadership position claiming she ‘never gaffes’:

She also made it clear her party is anti-worker (unless you’re a worker who can afford to send your kids to private school, that is):

The future’s Green

It’s not hard to see why the Green Party is resonating with voters under Zack Polanski. It’s also not hard to see why the reverse is true of Kemi Badenoch’s Conservatives.

With the Green surge still surging, we’re not sure how high their membership will go, but we’re confident the Tories won’t catch up.
