New Ukip leader claims media is controlled by ‘traitor class’ over Brexit
Ukip’s new leader has claimed the press is being controlled by a “traitor class” which is “conspiring with foreign powers” against Brexit.
Richard Braine, who took the helm of the Eurosceptic party last week, said there was an “EU federalist class” controlling the media, as he lashed out at the “bias” in Brexit reporting.
Speaking at a press conference in Westminster, Mr Braine cited the change of editor at the Daily Mail and appointment of former deputy prime minister Nick Clegg at Facebook.
“In the last three years we have seen a concerted effort in the media – we’ve seen Geordie Greig installed at the Daily Mail to make sure that it starts to toe the Remainer line,” he told reporters.
“The same thing has happened to some extent at the Express and we’ve seen Sir Nick Clegg getting a very, very well-paid job at Facebook to make sure that nobody can get away with saying what they shouldn’t say on Facebook.
“And we are seeing the press being controlled. You have a duty to be impartial and objective as journalists, so do that because the reporting of Brexit has been so biased for so long now.”
Pressed on who he thought was controlling the media, Mr Braine said: “I think they are being controlled by an EU federalist class – I mean I would go so far as to say a traitor class – people who are conspiring with foreign powers against the people of this country.

The Canary Workers’ Co-op knows life is hard. The Tories are waging a class war against us we’re all having to fight. But like trade unions and community organising, truly independent working-class media is a vital weapon in our armoury.
The Canary doesn’t have the budget of the corporate media. In fact, our income is over 1,000 times less than the Guardian’s. What we do have is a radical agenda that disrupts power and amplifies marginalised communities. But we can only do this with our readers’ support.
So please, help us continue to spread messages of resistance and hope. Even the smallest donation would mean the world to us.

This is a joke, right?
Reality reversal?
Dick Braine says the exact opposite of the truth?
Richard isn’t wrong and most people can see it, glad he won the leadership
“Traitor class” and suggested conspiracy with foreign powers? The individuals and organisations referred to are not my cup of tea but treachery and conspiracy is far fetched. The terms are better applied to Johnson and his chums: treachery (in essence a putsch) to be brought about by muzzling Parliament and conspiracy with USA neo-liberal interests.
Anyway, UKIP’s bolt is long since shot. Also, its association with a rabble rousing thug, now incarcerated, has destroyed any credibility once enjoyed.
Why did he choose the name “Dick Brain”? Because he used to be called Dick Head, until he changed it.
